Hello you,
I’ve been thinking about our culture’s obsession with exceptionalism a lot lately. The way that we’re taught to only value the outstanding and the extraordinary. The way we can convince ourselves that it makes us superior.
I’ve been thinking about what it costs us, and the way that the ordinary is a much more effective conduit for connection. That’s what today’s zine is about.
Today’s zine is below, and you can also find a link to the pdf version here.
Are you a recovering exceptionalist too? What ordinary pleasures do you love?
this is a profound shift that i've been working to embody. as someone who has attempted to do the absolute most for most of my life (and without realizing it!!), and practicing slowing down to notice tiny moments, i really appreciate this 🖤
i've been practicing really being in the moment when my kitties want attention. take the few minutes that they want to fully dedicate my attention to them. put my phone down, stare in their eyes, give them pets, and just think about how much i love them.
