Hello you,
Tomorrow we get started on the Summer of Rest and I’m just slipping in to remind you. Life can be a lot, things slip through the cracks. If you’ve been circling around, craving time to slow down and reconnect with yourself - now is the time.
These last few years have been overwhelming for so many of us. These are not ordinary times. In these moments of turbulence and uncertainty, it's important to listen to our bodies. To tune in, slow down, notice what's happening, and to offer a bit of care. It's also so necessary we find ways to support and hold each other.
And it can be so super hard to do. To tune in and listen, to slow down and move away from constantly being activated. It's a practice. Not always an easy one, but it’s something I keep offering myself and keep offering to you.
I think it's brave to commit to ourselves in this way. To remember our right to rest, and to hold ourselves no matter what is happening in the world around us. We often hesitate to soften fully, which makes total sense! It can feel safer to be braced for impact. But my hope is that over this month together we each find tiny, incremental ways to recommit to honouring our need for rest and wholeness, individually and collectively.
There’s already shaping up to be a beautiful gang gathered to practice rest together, I’d love to have you with us.
