Hello you,
Let me start by saying that this is a pretty administrative email. Not my usual essay, more a collection of announcements that my brain (for reasons entirely its own) decided needed to be put into the world in the fresh energy of January.
In case you want to skip to the bits that interest you, here’s the news you’ll find in this newsletter:
✹ Changes to this Substack and a new paid offering
✹ January sale for paid subscriptions
✹ New website!
✹ Last hurrah for single embodiment sessions
✹ Call for breathwork practice students
Changes afoot + embodying the tarot
I started this Substack as an experiment last January, after I slipped out the back door of social media and vowed never to return. I knew I wanted it to be a space to write and connect. I knew I wanted it to be slower, more thoughtful, more steadying for a nervous system than the perpetual scroll. And yet, despite knowing those things, the fast pace of social media content creation took a while to move out of my system.
So as the first anniversary of this experiment came around I took stock. What was working and what needed to shift? This is what came through…
I realised I wanted to write longer pieces, and take more time constructing them. Do the research, write more than one draft, let ideas brew and mature rather than rushing through the process. So the free letter will now be monthly, making time for a deeper dive into topics of embodiment, spirituality, magic and connection.
I also realised that I needed to divorce selling from this space. There was a stickiness that crept into the creative process when one eye was turned towards telling you about my offers. I’ll still mention what I’ve got going on, but I’m creating a separate list for folks who want to hear about how they can work with me. That way you can consent (or not).
And, I had an intuitive nudge about something new for paid subscribers.
Each new moon we’ll be exploring the tarot from an embodied perspective. We’ll work our way through the major arcana, talking about the interpretations of each card, our relationship to that archetype, and how we can play with embodying that energy.
This new shape to In Practice feels rooted and expansive, full of spark and magic. I’m so excited to see how it’s going to unfold as we gallop into this year.
January sale
I’m having a sale! 20% off for a year of In Practice. If you want to help support the creation of these letters, and join me for adventures in embodying the tarot, now’s a pretty great time to jump on board.
New website!
I didn’t really mean for January to be all ‘new year, new me’ in my business but, while we’re on the newness kick, I have a new website! It’s been a looooong time coming (seriously, I thought I’d have the rebrand and new site done in the first few months of last year) but she’s here now! Go have a poke around.
Last hurrah for Touchstone
As you can see, it’s all change round these parts, and come the end of January I’ll no longer be offering single session embodiment guidance. These sessions are 90 minutes of breath, somatic movement, rest, magic, and ritual just for you.
If you’re starting 2023 with some ‘fuck this shit’ energy, these sessions are for you. They’re are a container to release what’s keeping you stuck, tap into your intuition, and move into the year ahead shamelessly recentered in what’s true for you. Sound good?
(I’m) practicing breathwork (teaching)
Okay, you made it to the last announcement! Bravo!
Regular readers might know that I’m in the midst of training as a breathwork facilitator, and I’m looking for folks to practice my teaching with. If you’re curious about breathwork – and you’re good with me stumbling over my words a little – hit reply to this email. I’ll let you know what teaching spots I have available.
